The Company
Toumaz Technology Limited was founded to exploit developments in ultra-low power silicon chip technology at Imperial College London. The company's proprietary Advanced Mixed Signal - AMx™ - technology resulted from development of ultra low power techniques in signal processing and wireless systems leading to chips consuming up to 100 times less power than other state-of-the art devices. From the outset Toumaz has focused the AMx technology into the 'Human Space'. The company recognised that new ultra low power silicon devices would enable an explosion of product opportunities in healthcare and lifestyle management.
Demands on Healthcare are changing
Global
demographics are changing; the relentless increase
in people over 65 coupled with poor diet, and an
increasingly sedentary lifestyle are all factors
leading to a huge increase in long term patients
with one or more chronic diseases. Healthcare budgets
are already overstretched and the clearly forecasted
additional demands are simply unsustainable using
current practice. A new paradigm is required.
The Sensium
The Sensium is a revolutionary new wireless sensor interface platform employing AMx™ technology. This tiny, non intrusive, locally intelligent system on a chip is able to acquire, process, transmit and receive data at nanowatt power levels. Bringing the economies of scale of the semiconductor industry to healthcare to deliver real-time, personalised care, the Sensium has the potential to transform the treatment and management of chronic diseases for millions of people.
